Amputation as BodyMod

I'm actively seeking the amputation of my left hand
and open to contact with others in that regard. I've
made one attempt 4 yrs ago and now the time is
right to realize this modification.

Otherwise I have one tattoo on my right upper arm
and would like one or two more. I am also interested in
genital piercing as well.

nullo's, BME, scar art ... and body art

I am not sure how many people have moved past ink and general cartilage penetration, but I am quite interested in the phenomenon.

I am wondering people's opinions of extreme body mod... amputation, nullification, strip skin art. There is a lot of debate over where to draw the line for the definition of body art, and what it means. Namely that it is (especially in the situations of amputation, castration, etc) obscuring the lines between art and mental illness, and it is suggested that calling it "body mod" pejoratives the serious condition that it is.

SO... I have read a lot about this stuff, and I am flippin lost.

So community can answer this stuff.....

What do you feel about the BME community? Is there anyone here that has done anything more extreme than standard fare stuff?

paranoid about teeth health

i just received a vertical labret. i love it. it looks beautiful. only when i smile, the metal ball grazes against my front teeth, and when i close my lips, my top lip closes on top of the upper ball, covering half of it, rather than closing behind the ball. is this common, or should i consider repiercing and repositioning?

Societas Insomnia is a troupe of veteran performers from the subcultures of ritual art, circus, sex, body modification, fire, butoh, and experimental music. We combine these marginalized forms to embody a world of living nightmare.

Here it is, the moment you've been waiting for! It's now time to announce the 6TH ANNUAL IAM/BME SOCAL BBQ, MEET, AND FREAKATHON!!! Yes, it's been six years running, and contrary to rumor, we're doing this AGAIN! Hey All.
I am a grad student here in Philadelphia and I am trying to books/articles on body modification and it's related ilk. i am more or less a neophyte on the whole subject.
I should tell you a little about myself I guess. i was never tattooed (never found anything i wanted forever.) i did have a labrete(sp.?) piercing but it made my Mom cry. i just can't do that. Hee-hee.
Any info anyone could give me would be of great help.
